矿产资源 邵阳物产丰富。有色金属、非金属矿产冠盖“三湘”，全市已探明的矿产有煤、铁、锰、石膏、金、锑、铅锌、大理石、稀土等74种。石膏矿储量居全国首位，煤、锰、黄金、花岗岩、大理石等矿种储量均列湖南前四位。
Mineral resources Shaoyang municipality abounds in natural resources. The rich minerals of nonferrous metals and nonmetal enjoy high reputations in Hunan Province. There are 74 kinds of proven minerals, such as coal, iron, manganese, gypsum, gold, antimony, lead, zinc, marble and rare earth etc. The reserves of gypsum rank first in China and reserves of coal, manganese, gold, marble and granite all rank front in Hunan.
电力资源 邵阳境内有资江、沅江两大水系，水能资源丰富，年径流量180多亿立方米，水能储藏量157.78万千瓦，可开放的有98.17万千瓦，现已开发了85万千瓦。现全市用电东部地区主要靠华中电网主供，西部山区县主要靠自建水电和小火电站供电，并与大电网一点并网。城步南山、新宁黄金牧场风能资源丰富，可装机30万千瓦。
Power resources Shaoyang is rich in water resources with two river systems, Zijiang River and Yuanjiang River. The annual runoff is over 18 billion cubic meters . The hydropower storage is 1.58 million kilowatt，among which,0.98 million kilowatt is available for development and 0.85 million kilowatt has been developed. At present the electricity in eastern Shaoyang is mainly provided by middle China Electric Power Grid and the electricity in western counties, which is merged into a large electric power grid, mainly provided by self-built hydropower stations and small thermal power stations. Mountain Nanshan in Chengbu County and Huangjin Pasture in Xinning County are rich in wind energies with installed capacity of 0.3 million kilowatt.
农林资源 邵阳现有土地面积20829.63平方公里，其中耕地面积396.17千公顷，年产粮食319万吨、柑桔20万吨、脐橙35209吨、黄花14万担、辣椒37万担。雪峰蜜桔、无病毒脐橙、茶叶、稻谷、红薯、马铃薯、小麦、玉兰片、黄花菜、苡米、板粟、生姜、辣椒、大蒜、金银花、厚朴、杜仲等久负盛名，适合兴建农场及农副产品加工企业。
邵阳现有草山草场600多万亩，集中连片一万亩以上的草场58处197万亩，可养水面24.4亿立方米，全市有野生脊椎动物和饲养畜禽419种，已经建成畜牧小区200多个，牲猪年出栏量达到1000万头。我市将以南山牧场、黄金牧场为中心，建立草山开发示范基地。这些基地的建设，为外商提供了广阔的投资机遇。
邵阳是全省重点林区，全市林地125.96万公顷，森林植物资源2800多种，全市森林履盖率达56.9%，活立木总蓄积量5613.17万立方米，主要林木树种有杉木、马尾松、楠竹等120多种，年出产木材220万立方米，主要药用植物有杜仲、厚朴、金银花、桔梗等1600种。邵阳林木资源名列全省第二，适合兴办木材加工、纸业、造纸、中药材种植加工企业。
Agricultural and forest resources
Shaoyang municipality has 20829.63 square kilometers land including cultivated area 396.17 thousand hectares which annually turn out 3.19 million tons of grains, 0.2 million tons of oranges, 35209 tons of navel oranges, 0.14 million dans of day lilies and 0.37 million dans of chilis. Xuefeng mandarin oranges, virusless navel oranges, tea, grains, sweet potatoes, potatoes, wheat, dried slices of tender bamboo shoots, day lilies, seeds of Job’s tears, Chinese chestnuts, gingers, chilis, garlics, honeysuckles, bark of magnolia and barks of eucommia etc. have long been famous. So Shaoyang is a suitable place for building farms and farm products processing enterprises.
Shaoyang municipality has more than 6 million mu of grass hills and grasslands including 58 continuous grasslands, each covers an area of over 10000 mu, totaling 1.97 million mu. There are 419 kinds of wild vertebrates and livestock. It has constructed over 200 livestock farming bases with annual capacity of 10 million heads of pigs and will build a grass hill development demonstration base on the basis of Nanshan Pasture and Huangjin Pastrue. The construction of these bases provide foreign investors with many investment opportunities.
Shaoyang municipality is a major forest zone in Hunan Province. Forestland covers 1.2596 million hectares. Forest coverage rate is 56.9%. There are more than 2800 kinds of forest plants. The stock volume of wood is 56.13 million cubic meters. The main forest trees have more than 120 kinds such as China fir, mason pine and bamboo etc. Annual timber output is 2.2 million cubic meters. The main medicinal plants have 1600 kinds such as the bark of encomia, bark of magnolia, honeysuckle, the root of balloon flower and so on. The timber resources in Shaoyang municipality rank second in Hunan Province and it is a suitable place for building enterprises dealing in timber processing, papermaking and Chinese medicinal herbs planting and processing.

Tourism resources Shaoyang enjoys exceptional advantages in developing tourism resources. 劳动力资源 邵阳人口众多，全市农村劳动力400万人，常年剩余劳动力150万人以上。在现有劳动力中，70%以上都受过初中以上的教育。本市每年有120万人到沿海地区打工。辖区内劳动力价格低廉，工资一般为400-800元/月，比沿海地区低1到2倍。
Labour resources Shaoyang has a population of 7.4 million including rural labors 4 million. The spare labors usually exceed 1.5 million. Among the available labors ,more than 70% have been trained by more than junior middle school. Every year, the whole municipality has 1.2 million labors work as migrated workers in coastal cities. In the municipality, the wage of a labor is RMB 400-800/ month, which is twice or three times as low as that in coastal cities.
